"Large Persian Carpet Sabzewār"
Entirely knotted by hand, pure wool, vegetable dyeing, size: 3.90mx2.90m Sabzewār: Town located in the north-east of Iran, 250km from Meshed. Sabzewār rugs are quite similar to Meshed rugs. The decor is curvilinear, often with a round central medallion and flowers in the border. The wool used is of good quality. The dominant colors are red and blue. Traditional Handmade Persian Carpet from Sabzewār, Iran 390x290 cm Sabzewār is in the Khorasan (also Khurasan) region of Persia, located in the northeast. The name means “rising sun” Sabzewār is a desert town on a major Silk Road between Mashad and Tehran. The wool found here is some of the best that Iran has to offer due to the high copper content in the water. Sabzewār has a rich history in rug design and has been an important source of Persian rugs since at least 1555.
