Japan, Meiji era.
Large polychrome porcelain dish decorated with mountainous landscape into reserves and Shichifukujin in a bamboo grove in the manner of the classical subject of Chinese art of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove.
Motifs of butterflies, stylized flowers and geometric figures.
The back is decorated with three blue flowers and bears an inscription in red.
This dish is sold with its metal presentation hook.

These Seven Lucky Gods form a group of auspicious deities consisting of Ebisu, god of fishermen, merchants, and prosperity; Daikokuten, god of wealth, commerce, and trade; Bishamonten, god of warriors and protector of Buddhist law and prosperity ; Benten, deity of knowledge, art and beauty, eloquence, music, literature, arts and sciences, virtue and wisdom, prosperity and longevity ; Fukurokuju, deity of happiness, wealth and longevity, virility and wisdom; Hotei, deity of abundance and good health, contentment and commerce; and Jurōjin, deity of longevity and prosperity.
