Noticed by the King of England George III, also Ekector of Hanover, he went to London in 1781, he studied with Benjamin West at the Royal Academie School, in 1782 he began to exhibited at the Royal Academy and in 1784 he obtained a silver medal.He worked there until 1788 participating in numerous exhibitions.He then traveled to the Netherlands, Italy and Germany before returning to his native Hanover. the court of the Elector, he continued to make many portraits for the royal family of England at the same time, he was considered one of the most brilliant draftsman of his time, illustrating many works or almanacs. He engraved most of his drawings himself.
