Object description :

"Drawing From The Romantic Era At The Lead Mine By Hippolyte Poterlet (1803-1835)"
Study of a woman and a girl, pencil drawing by Hippolyte POTERLET, Death prematurely for a lasting celebrity, her painting "the dispute of Vadius and Trissotin" draws its inspiration from Molière's "Learned Women". The painting was hung in the Louvre next to Eugène DELACROIX's "self-portrait". They were really friends, sharing moments of painting together on the same grounds. Our little study is close to English inspiration, we know that during the summer of 1825 Poterlet visited England in the company of Delacroix as well as of T. Fielding, RP Bonnington and A. M Colin.
