"Pair Of Gold, Enamel, Pearl, And Mother-of-pearl Earrings – Napoleon III "
Pair of gold earrings. The pendant of each earring is suspended by alternating pearls and gold beads. Enamel medallions set in a gold mounting embellish the earrings. The mounting itself is set with pearls and topped with a bow. The miniatures featured on the medallions are different: on one, a young shepherdess with her staff is standing near a fence; on the other, a young shepherdess is holding out her apron. These medallions are sealed on the back by a plate of mother-of-pearl.
These pendants are characteristic of the Napoleon III period, whose historical style, developed during the late 19th century, made a return to 18th century artistic style.
