Brooch featuring a micromosaic set in blue-red enameled gold. The rectangular-shaped micromosaic on black onyx represents a spaniel lying in the grass. The spaniel motif was created by Antonio Aguatti and influenced many mosaic artists. The comma and semicircle arrangement of the tesserae, imitating the dog's hair, is typical of micromosaics from the 1830s-1840s.
