In the 18th century, the Faizelot Delorme family had several carpenters and cabinet makers: François, the father, whose workshop was taken over by the two younger sons, Jean-Louis and Alexis; and Adrien, the eldest, who had his own workshop. This unpublished study presents the main features of their life and their production, which was illustrated above all in sumptuous marquetry furniture and the pastiche or the restoration of works by André Charles Boulle. Our JLF Delorme stamp corresponds to that of Jean-Louis, brother of Adrien Faizelot Delorme who used the Delorme stamp. Jean Louis Delorme was with Philippe Claude Montigny and Etienne Levasseur, one of the artisans of the revival of Boulle furniture fashion in the mid-18th century, specializing in the restoration of furniture from sales after the death of Boulle customers for the account of the merchant-mercer Claude-François Julliot. This JLFDelorme stamp can be found on a number of Boulle furniture dating from the first quarter of the 18th century, which were also restored, in particular on four cupboards with scraps of Boulle medals with Aspasie (on one of the queen's cupboards). from England to Windsor, acquired by the Regent before 1817; on one of those kept at the Palace of Versailles, seized during the Revolution from the Noailles or from Lenoir du Breuil and on two cabinets from the old collection of Ogden Mills ). It is also found on a pair of low three-door Boulle bookcases from the Wallace collection (F 386-7), on another pair with two doors (private collection) and on a pair of pedestal tables from the Grog collection at the museum of the Louvre. This series was studied by Alexandre Pradère ("Medal cabinets in the history of Louis XIV by Boulle and his followers", Revue de l'Art, n ° 116, 1997, pp.42-53. It is interesting to to point out that we indeed find the Delorme stamp on four of these pieces of furniture, one of Windsor, one in Versailles, two in a private collection.
