"Marcel Poggioli (1882-1969) La Rue Aux Treilles"
Bright and a touch full of sensitivity for this oil on cardboard by Marseille artist of Corsican origin Marcel Dominique Poggioli. The work, which represents a village street, is in its original good condition. It is framed in a 1930s carved wooden frame that has been painted (certainly by the previous owner) but can be gilded or changed. It measures 50 cm by 60 cm and 33 cm by 41 cm without the frame. The work is titled on the back: "La rue aux treilles" and indicates the painter's address in Marseille. On the frame, an old label mentions a name and an address in Tunis. Landscaper of great sensitivity to the pastel palette, member of the Salon des Artistes Français since 1921. Teacher of drawing and Decorative Arts at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille. Poggioli has never denied either his Corsican origins (he painted his island with passion) or his participation in the movement of Proletarian Artists (Art and Work, Maison de la Culture de Marseille in 1936). Indeed, vice-president of the Union of Artists of Provence, he did not cease to take an active part in the professional life of plastic surgeons and in the organization of various Salons. As for his paintings, poetry and delicacy are the mark of a refined artist. The Cantini Museum in Marseille preserves "the Maquis and the sea"
