"Persian Set Qadjar Period (qajar) XIXth Century"
Beautiful Persian set from the Qadjar period, comprising: A helmet called "Khulah Khud", A shield called "Dhal" an arm guard called "Bazu band" and a command mace representing "Ras el K'Roul"
Helmet: Skull in steel, forged in one piece, with movable nose, riveted central point, and two egret holders. The whole is chiseled with soft metal inlays (brass) with flower patterns. All around the skull is decorated with verses from the Koran in Kufic characters, on a gilded background. The chain mail is intact, without lack or tear, which is rare. Skull height with point 26 cm. With chain mail approx. 52 cm.
Shield: In chiseled steel, numerous brass inlays with floral motifs, and as for the helmet, verses from the Koran in circles, on a gold background, are around the entire circumference of the shield. Diameter 47 cm
Arm Guard: Chiseled on a golden background. The face of Ali, first imam and warrior hero of the Shi'ites is represented 7 times in medallions around the armguard. Decor of verses from the Koran on a golden background.
The decorative patterns on this armguard show some wear, which shows that it has been worn. Chain mail for hand protection is intact, and presence too of the small plate for wrist protection.
Length without the hand protection 34 cm, with the hand protection 50 cm
Command mace: Persian maces are not imade to be used as war hammers, they were insigns of command.
The head of the mace represents the demon Ras el K'Roul who was defeated by Sidi Ali. The whole mass is engraved.
On the handle: Floral motifs and representation of Ali.
Behind the demon's head, Sidi Ali teaching a disciple, a symbol of authority and wisdom. L 72 cm

This homogeneous set is rare to find so complete and in such good condition. The support is modern. Total H with support 90 cm
