This pair of rare andirons is each made up of a tomb base carried by four legs detached in volutes and foliage bearing a lion standing on a heraldic crest. There are two shields per fire adorned with the queen inlay motif. This type of chenet was in vogue at the beginning of the 18th century, there was a model with prancing horses (The great bronzier Caffiéri participated in their design), and this model with lions, on an identical tomb base. We know of several, in Lochnich Castle in Great Britain, in the museums of Bavaria (formerly in the Emperor's apartments in Nymphenburg Castle), ... The dating is confirmed by the characteristic montage of the time. Quadrilobed nuts, large part marking notches. Recent well-made log bars have replaced the old ones which deteriorate with use ( 40 cm).
