"Ravageot & Ravageole, Bronze Animal Of Dog, By E. Fremiet"
Very beautiful bronze by Emmanuel Fremiet (1824-1910), representing the two Bassets of Napoleon III, bronze with richly nuanced light brown patina, beautiful old cast iron, with its attachment between the two necklaces present. He exhibited this bronze at the Salon des Artistes Animaliers in 1853. He is famous for the Monument to Joan of Arc in Paris, the Monument to Ferdinand de Lesseps in Port Said and for his animal subjects. He is the father-in-law of the musician Gabriel Fauré.
