Enamel From Limoges Signed Chazelas, Enamel On Copper Plate

Very beautiful Limoges enamel signed Chazelas representing a particularly dreamlike scene: a sailor asleep in his boat receives the "visit" of an undine. Sitting at the edge of the boat, is the pretty creature of the water at the origin of the deep sleep which seems to have carried our sailor away, as tales and legends often tell us? Is the sailor a castaway victim of hallucinations? What will happen to him? ... The mysterious side of the scene is greatly amplified by the nocturnal atmosphere. Our enamel is signed Chazelas at the bottom right of the copper plate, it is in very good condition, the colors are magnificent. It is presented in a Montparnasse frame on which a few small fragments of no impact are to be noted. Stamp of the master enameller on the back of the frame.
