Chiseling and polish absolutely exceptional .
Grandson of Antoine-Vital Cardeilhac, Ernest Cardeilhac, after an apprenticeship with the goldsmith Harleux, took over the management of the house Cardeilhac in 1885. It is with him that the realization of gold and silver goldsmith's pieces began. He organizes his workshops for this manufacture and buys the funds of the house Lebon. Assisted by three artists: the draftsman Lucien Bonvallet, the sculptor Aiguier and the chiseler Viat, he presented his first works in 1889 at the Universal Exhibition and obtained a silver medal. At the Universal Exhibition of 1900, he obtained a great success with pieces executed according to the drawings of Lucien Bonvallet, where the ornamentation of vegetal inspiration and sobriety is animated by the association to metal of materials such as wood, ivory and patinas.
In 1904, his two sons, Jacques and Pierre, succeeded him. The Cardeilhac house will manufacture for its most prestigious customers any type of bronze object on order, including this rare mascot (inspired by an 18th century Indian-style clock model).
