Bronze statuette from 1900 (Art Nouveau) signed A Charron, titled on its base "Génie des Sciences". This character from mythology is represented by a young winged boy, sitting on a column and reading a poem by Virgil. Alfred-Joseph Charron is a French sculptor born in Poitiers (1863/1955) who learned sculpture with Barrias, Cavelier… His works were presented at the Salon in 1883 and he became a member in 1889. Bronze with patina of nuanced brown origin ( uses) old restoration at the base of its right wing, column and base in red Griotte marble, capital and base in chiseled and gilded bronze. Stamp of the founder Léon Virlet contemporary of the sculptor. The plinth is included in the height indicated.
