" Monumental Christ In Wood, Italy, XVIIth Century"
This impressive wooden Corpus Christi is presented in a remarkable state of preservation. With his head bent over his chest, resigned, Christ is wearing the crown of thorns. His abdomen is bruised by the wound inflicted on him by the lance of Centurion Longinus. The structural rigor of Jesus' body, with a soft and sensual shape highlighted by a thin layer of polychromy, his perizonium knotted in a fan, as well as his face with vigorous features framed by flexible locks and adorned with a twisted bifid beard, allow to bring our sculpture closer to the Italian tradition of the 17th century.
