Ceremonial Saber Hilt. Mandau Dayak Ethnicity Indonesia, Kalimantan Island (Borneo), Bahau people of the Mahakam region.The handle engraved in deer antler, with light yellow patina, elephant head handle has the spiral patterns integrated with other iconographic elements that indicate predation (leeches, teeth and canines), fine braided plant fibers cover the short handle.
Piece bought during my travels in 1990.
Period end of the 19th century, excellent condition.
