Pair of Arita porcelain flared-neck vases enamelled in underglaze blue and decorated with red, black and gold lacquer. Japan Meiji period (1868-1912) The belly receives a rotating lacquer decoration On one side a large cartouche with a red and gold background is decorated with birds in cherry blossoms, on the other side a cartouche with a black and gold background decorated in a rocky landscape. The rest of the plain surfaces are decorated with fine geometric patterns in gold in polylobed cartridges. The inside of the flared and contoured collar is decorated in blue. Paulazzopardi.com
