Fine painting (watercolor) on original silk. Musha-e. Harano No Tsuki, Moonlight in Autumn, in the Musashino Plain, By Ando Hiroshige I (1797 - 1858).

A historical episode: the flute player Yasumasa in the reeds at the full moon, and a thief coming from behind: Hakamadare Yasusake.

Period: Edo period around 1835-1840

Signed: Ando Hiroshige I (1797 - 1858), signed Rissai+ red seal.

Painting: Watercolor on silk, very finely and delicately painted.

Calligraphy signature, Rissai and square stamp, red. From a collection of an old French aristocratic family, politician and poet. One can imagine that these works were made on special order from the artist. From a collection of several works.

Description: Historical episode. Moonlight on a reed moor (Harano no tsuki). Historical episode also found in the 100 Aspects of the Moon, (Tsuki hyakushi) series of prints created by TSUKIOKA Yoshitoshi (1868-1912), 1888.

Condition: Excellent condition.
