"Henri IV Sheet Tray"
Nice tray from the Restoration period in very good condition. On a yellow background we see in the middle Henri IV coming out of a garden accompanied by a young woman, probably Fleurette, the daughter of the gardener of the Château de Nérac. According to legend, she was of all his many mistresses the only one who loved him and who remained faithful to him.A flower frieze on the edge of the plateau supports this interpretation as well as the Gothic-style castle that can be seen in the background It must be the Château de Nérac. A neo-Gothic frieze frames the scene. A few tiny chips of paint, noticeable only on winding.
