"Henri IV Receives Voltaire At The Champs Elysées, France 18th Century"
Henri IV receives Voltaire at the Champs Elysées, oil on its original canvas, dimensions 85 cm x 70 cm, with its carved wooden frame, 98 cm x 83 cm. Henri IV receives Voltaire on the banks of the Léthé, represented by an old man asleep on his urn. His arrival is apparently eagerly awaited, indeed behind we can see Louis XV, Louis XIV, Louis XIII and probably Corneille and Racine. Several geniuses with various attributes surround it and on the left one can see Jean Jacques Rousseau who is preparing to cross the Acheron. An engraving was made by Jean César Macret for Catherine II of Russia with the monarchs Peter the Great in line.
