The work of Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755) was widely disseminated and appreciated in the 18th century. Many engravings or achievements in the decorative arts bear witness to this. The Sèvres factory has taken over Oudry's paintings and engravings for the creation of biscuit statuettes or for painted motifs. Similarly, the goldsmith Jacques Roettiers (1707-1784) created the top-table for Louis de Bourbon-Condé (now at the Louvre Museum) in 1733. Our drawing takes the painting of Jean-Baptiste Oudry entitledSwan attacked by a dogfrom 1745 (at the North Carolina Museum of Art). Should we see in our drawing a project for silverware, for porcelain?
