"Oil On Canvas"
Large oil on canvas, signed Edouard ADAM and dated 1900, representing the liner "La Lorraine" leaving the Normandy coast. Rare oil in height with a front view turned slightly to the right which changes the side views that we are used to seeing in this artist, the ship rushes towards the viewer and seems to come out of the canvas. La Lorraine, built by the Penhoët shipyards in St Nazaire, was put into service in 1900 on the Le Havre-New York line. This painting dated 1900 surely represents the maiden voyage. Table cleaned and restored (2 snags) by professional, the original frame with gilding is being cleaned.
