"Joos De Momper"
Jodocus says Joos de Momper. Antwerp 1564-1635 Mountainous landscape animated by oxen, goat, sheep, donkey and shepherd. A rider on his white horse and a passerby. This painter who was a follower of Brueghel the Elder gives us the depth of the mountains in an evanescent and clear way compared to the rather dark foreground. They clearly underline the escarpment of the mountains. He likes to use light greens and yellows for trees. The small characters and animals compared to the whole, reinforce the feeling of depth. They were probably painted by his son Phillips. In his work we often find a bridge and a church. Bibliography: Benezit
