Raymond BESSE, born December 26, 1899 in Niort in the Deux-Sèvres, died March 5, 1969 in Candé-sur-Beuvron in the Loir-et-Cher), is a French painter.
Raymond Besse arrived in Paris in 1916. He participates for the first time in the Salon des indépendants in 1923. He then participates in many other exhibitions, including the Salon d'automne. He represented the northern suburbs of Paris, Saint-Ouen, Montmartre and Clichy many times because he liked to paint the area and his paintings are a testimony of life in the working-class neighborhoods during the first half of the century.
Raymond Besse also produced numerous works on the themes of Normandy and the Loire Valley. It is in the Loir-et-Cher that he spent his last years and died in 1969. (source Wikipedia)
