Large 19th century painting oil on panel signed Marie Favre-Gd (Marie Favre-Guillarmod 1824-1872 Swiss painter and illustrator) Beautiful floral and fruit composition in the style of the Dutch still life of the 17th century to be compared to the painter Bosschaert Ambrosius (1573 -1621) depicting a bouquet composed of abundant species (roses, anemone, cyclamen, daffodils, hyacinth, pansy, marsh marigolds and columbine) inscribed in the arched embrasure of a window niche, the viewer's eyes attracted by a ladybird on the entablature and by a snail climbing up the wall. Period framing (wear and minor losses). Dimensions: 75 cm X 65 cm NOTE: Talented painter Marie Favre-Guillarmod was the wife of the famous professor, naturalist, historian, writer, archaeologist and designer of Swiss origin Louis Favre-Guillarmod (1822-1904). She will contribute alongside her husband, to the illustration of natural science books, to the study of medicinal plants and mushrooms. They leave an important work and a rich correspondence which are kept at the public and university library of Neuchâtel.
