Pair of Directoire sculpted mahogany and ormolu armchairs, late 18th century circa 1790.

Our beautiful pair of so-called a la Reine armchairs, are undoubtedly the work of a great Parisian seatmaker.
The ormolu pyramid-shaped decoration on the corners may let us think about Molitor production, who used such finish details on the Klismos chairs.
But they are most likely to be attributed to Georges Jacob, given the large amount of details that reminds his work : manufacture quality level of course, but also the finish and the so-called a l'Etrusque style, of which Georges Jacob was one of precursors.

These high-end models in perfect condition have been beautifully restored as they deserve, with a Tassinari & Chatel dark green silk velvet enhanced with an antique gilt braid.

Width : 59cm
Height : 90cm
