Gray marble terminal clock with a bronze female bust. Movement by Japy Frères et Cie, this famous dynasty founded in 1777 a workshop in which Frederic Japy renews and mechanizes the traditional process of the establishment practiced in the Jura by the watchmaking profession. From the watch movement, Japy switched to clocks and diversified into tools, motors, bicycle parts, lighting, garden furniture, pumps, coffee grinders, typewriters etc. The 1880s marked Japy's golden age. Nearly 5,000 workers work in Japy factories in the region. The family had thirteen castles built in Beaucourt and Dasle, four have disappeared. The bust is the work of G. Faraoni, who collaborated in the 1860s with the foundry editor Oudry. Circa 1860. Sold with key and pendulum. Sold as is (movement to be revised). The bust is 17cm high.
