Original drawing in ink wash and heightened with gouache, for the cover page of the book "Les Gaietés bourgeoises" by Jules Moinaux published in 1888, Jules moinaux was the father of Georges Courteline. This drawing represents the event which took place on May 25, 1887 of the fire at the Opéra Comique (in the background top left in the cylindrical cartridge) and the arrest of two characters, of whom we assume to be Léon CARVAIHO, director de l'Oréra Comique, d'Archambault, architect of the fine arts, Condemned, they appealed against the judgment and were acquitted in March 1888 ... Size at sight 32 cm h., 50 cm wide. and with frame 65 cm h. and 83 cm wide.
