This rare suite, originally composed of six plates, the only one engraved by Dugourc himself, was intended for the decoration of the panels of one of the rooms of the Hotel de la Vaupalière rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, baptized "antechamber Dugourc"
Jean-Démosthène Dugourc (1749-1825) distinguished himself in the designs for theater costumes and in 1780 became designer for the Cabinet de Monsieur. He worked for the greatest bronziers of the time: Gouthière, Godon and Thomire as well as for the King of Spain under the Empire and competed with Percier and Fontaine. He was also designer of Menus Pleasures from 1817 to 1823.
