Beautiful work of the Marseille painter Joseph Suchet which represents a scene of deep sea fishing in the vicinity of Marseille.
Marine specialist, artist Joseph Suchet manages to capture the action of a deep sea fishing scene with a moving sea.

Son of a sailor and pupil of Emile Loubon at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Marseille, he exhibited from 1857 to 1879 at the Paris Salon. He specializes in marine painting which represents fishing scenes in Marseille and its surroundings: Sausset, Bandol, ... in all weather and in all seasons.
He adheres to the local artistic life in Marseilles by participating in various exhibitions and by being an active member of the artistic circle, created by his friend and patron Jules Charles-Roux.

These works are kept in various museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille and the Museum of Fine Arts in Toulon.

Note: Old small restorations, visible on the back of the canvas, should be noted.

Size: 46 x 38 cm without frame and 63 x 55 cm with its modern wooden frame.
