DAGOTY
A neoclassical cup and a saucer
Hard-paste porcelain cup and a saucer, the cup of litron shape with a nice brown ground, center ornate with brown figures in a medallion depicting a sitting putto and a dog, on a bloodstone ground, surrounded by a generous gold ornamentation, gilt rims and handle.
The scene on the cup is captioned in French at the back: "Amour et fidelité", the Love for the angel, the Loyalty for the dog, handwritten marked in gold.
The saucer is certainly by Dagoty too, but is certainly not the cup’s one. It is ornate with a frieze of gilt lotus stems on a bloodstone ground, gilt rims. It has a large cooking crack.
