"Large Orientalist Painting Nineteenth Herodiade"
Important orientalist painting on canvas signed A. ANDREAS (c.1864-1899) Impressionist style composition depicting an allegory of the portrait of the Jewish princess Herodiade (daughter of Herod) seated on a sofa, the young woman is richly adorned with jewels and dressed in a printed loincloth with a Byzantine cruciform pattern echoing the decor in the background woodwork. Beautiful original frame with rich neoclassical decoration in gilded wood bearing the title exhibition cartouche of the work and the artist. Very good condition, old restorations. Dimensions: 1.20 m high X 100 cm wide.
