Adrien Auguste LEDUC
Painter, decorator, head of laboratory at the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1919 to 1954, between the two wars he participated in the more contemporary evolution of the shapes and decorations of the Manufacture by adopting geometric representations and reinterpreted foliage.
The peculiarity of this vase, apart from its large size and its imposing volume, lies in the unusual treatment of the decoration, treated here in relief with celadon glaze that we find in Chinese porcelain and in fact, little used in Sèvres. "Love" and "Nature" are the main themes of this vase.
It is symbolized by the meeting of pairs of animals, doves, squirrels, sparrows, ibex, united between them by the meshes of a net.
Note also the vegetal side represented by the stylized foliage.
