"Important Cache Pot Art Nouveau, d'Ernest Chaplet Et Jean Désiré Ringel d'Illzach Pour Haviland"
This enameled earthenware was manufactured by the Haviland studio, rue Blomet in Paris circa 1883-1885 under supervision of Ernest Chaplet. The intimate inscised decoration was created by Jean Désiré Ringel d'Illzach. One the one side there is an opera loggia with a woman holding a fan and a man loocking througt binoculars in the foreground. The other side depicts seven figures on stage with one holding flowers. this decoration most probably illustrates the opening of the Palais Garnier Opéra, Paris, on january 5th, 1875 by maréchal Mac-Mahon.
