Frame dimensions: H. 56.5 x L. 97 x D. 6.5 cm; subject: H. 46 x L. 85.5 cm. Jozef Quisthoudt (Antwerp 1883 - Nazareh 1953) Painter of portraits, landscapes, urban views and still lifes. Studied decorative painting with his father. Studies at the Academy of Antwerp (1897-1906, J. de Vriendt). N. De Keyser Prize (1906). Began in 1909. Improved in the studio of J. de Vriendt until 1912. Resin in The Hague / Holland during the First World War and until 1922. He made a name for himself as a portrait painter. Moves to Ypres in 1923 where he also mainly does portraits. Also works as a copyist of old masters for the church of Saint-Jacques in Ypres. Works in Ypres at the Lamerant Chapel, the Belle Hospice, the Elzenwalle Castle and the Museum.
