Indeed, Fukusuke means "the lucky man". He is the embodiment of a wealthy 18th-century Kyoto merchant, Daimonjiya, who was known to be generous with those in need. He has a particularly recognizable physique: his head is disproportionately large compared to his body. He is plump and his traditional hairstyle is called chonmage. His head is shaved except for a lock at the top. His earlobes are also bigl.
