Norman wedding clock known as Saint Nicolas, in molded and sculpted oak with a rich decoration of a basket of flowers and plants, of drapery and trimmings, and of a basin of flowers. Original enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Labarre à Villy le Bas. A few small enamel jumps around the edge, not visible with the window closed. Curved glass. Saint Nicolas wire movement with short balance, lens 12 cm in diameter passing in front of the strings, therefore from the second half of the 19th century. Weight and counterweight for reassembly. Movement without ringing. Height 242 cm, head width 47.5 cm, body width 27.5 cm. Clock in very good condition, working perfectly. 8 day movement. The Saint-Nicolas clock is a short pendulum clock made in Normandy, and more particularly around Saint-Nicolas d'Aliermont, from which it takes its name. It was made from the end of the 17th century until around 1914. Saint-Nicolas clocks are sometimes known by other names: "the elegant ones", the "flower-headed clocks".
