"Betel Box In Silver, India Around 1900"
Openwork silver box with flat bottom, ten lobes, intended for storing betel leaves. The decoration of the body and the domed cover is executed in repoussé, chiseled in lines and in mat, it represents foliage and blooming flowers. The catch of the cover is shaped like a pawn; it stands in the middle of a corolla of leaves surrounded by a frieze of cordage.
