Victorian umbrella, Parasol. Superb and rare marbled tortoiseshell handle on the lower part, with inlay of small golden metallic stars, and in two-tone wood on the upper part. The aiguillettes are also made of tortoiseshell. Silk has been replaced by Parasolerie Hertault, specialist in the restoration of Victorian and Edwardian parasols and creator of haute couture umbrellas (http://parasolerieheurtault.com/). The original fringes have been used and the parasol is exactly as it was then. It is in perfect condition and can be used. It is 23,23 inches long and 17,71 inches in diameter open. A sliding gilded and engraved metal ring allows it to be folded in half. France, circa 1850.
