Biography :
He is a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Regnault and Pierre Antoine Mongin and marries the daughter of Carle Vernet. he subsequently exhibited at the Salons from 1804 to 1847.

History:
Our painting from the workshop of Hippolyte Lecomte represents "The fight at the Porte Saint Denis, July 28, 1830" in our current 10th arrondissement of Paris, theater of the second revolution known as "Three Glorious" because it will take place in three acts on July 28, 29 and 30. It carries on the throne, a new king, Louis Philippe to the detriment of the Second Empire of Charles X. From July 25, the Parisians set up barricades in Paris and confront the armed forces of the Duke of Guise. It is General Quinsonnas who commands the battalion present at the Porte de Saint Denis faced with strong resistance.
