Chains and fixing in bronze aspect brass -
Early 19th century glassware, Argonne or Flanders?
The receptable bell (finished at its base with a button with stylized floral decoration), was intended to receive a candle or an oil lamp;
its upper part has a hemmed edge to retain the brass strapping on which three hooks in the shape of stylized bird heads are attached. Note that a strip finishing the back of one of the bird heads has a small lack (see photo), which does not interfere with the strength and the grip of the entire lantern.
The smoke-eating kept the smoke from going towards the ceiling, in order to protect it from soot. The upper ring is in bronze.
Good condition. Some tiny bubbles in transparency.
Dimensions: 36 cm in total height and 17 cm in diameter of the glassware
