Bust after the antique, representing Menelaus * king of Sparta, bronze with double patina. Rests on a molded stone plinth and finished with a gilded bronze ring (complete pendulum and in working order) Period XIXth Excellent condition, superb patina Bronze height 42 cm, total height 66 cm, length 42 cm. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Sotheby's sale 30 09 2011, lot 28, for an identical model Anticomania exhibition catalog, Galerie Kugel, Paris 2011 * Ménélas, king of Sparta, was one of the major figures of the legendary Trojan War, which he launched in order to to recover his wife Hélène, kidnapped by the Trojan prince Pâris. Our bust is a bronze cast after the Hellenistic Pasquino marble (3rd century BC). The Lacedaemonian warrior is represented wearing a helmet richly decorated with animal figures and a mythological scene. Shipping costs by carrier for France: 100 euros
