Large barometer in gilded wood from the 1st Empire period circa 1800 model according to Torricelli presenting a finely carved structure entirely covered with gold leaf depicting a pediment animated with scientific attributes adorned with a world map enriched with acanthus leaves and of flowering branches. The octagonal surround is underlined by a frieze of water leaves and rows of pearls, the angles are decorated with spandrels composed of palmettes. Good condition, beautiful gilding, note the missing mercury system. Dimensions: 87 cm high X 50 cm wide.
