The Holy Family of Francis I or Holy Family with Saint Elizabeth, little Saint John and two angels, or the Great Holy Family of Francois 1st is an oil painting on wood transferred to canvas in 1751 (207 × 140 cm), signed and dating from around 1518, by the painter Raphaël and his workshop, kept at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The painting was commissioned by Pope Leo X and sent as a gift to the King of France, Francis I, in 1518. The angel crowning the Virgin Mary with flowers is a reference to the recent motherhood of Queen Claude of France. The work is signed by Raphael, but it is likely that most of the composition was performed by his workshop and his assistants. The painting was kept in the collections of King Louis XIV at the Louvre then at the Palace of Versailles. In the 1660s, old copies were found at the Château de Fontainebleau where Raphael's painting was kept. A copy is still there today it is a work of the painter Jean-Michelin (1571-1641).
