Watercolor representing a view of Saint-Fort-Sur-Gironde, a small town in the South West of France, located in the department of Charentes Maritime (35 km from Royan and 45 km from Saintes). You can see on the left the bell tower of the Saint Fortunat church. It is signed lower right RE Durand-Roy, it is located and dated 1946. René Emile Durand-Roy was born in Saintes on October 29, 1894 and died on June 30, 1970 in Royan. He was a designer for the sports press, he produced numerous drawings for "Le Miroir des Sports" and notably followed the Tour de France Cycliste from 1925 to 1939. His drawings were all signed RED (his initials for René Emile Durand). He will realize in watercolor many landscapes and rural scenes of his region. He will exhibit in various salons, such as the Salon des Artistes Français in 1923. The Salon des Arts Français in Zagreb in 1935. It is sold with an old gold lacquered frame.
