Großherzoglich Hessisches) Nr. 117, model 1897. Helmet of late manufacture, bomb in blackened fibers, visor strapping ring and other metal fittings in gilded brass, stamped brass state plaque representing the crowned lion of Hesse, erect and brandishing a sword, framed by a branch of laurel leaves fruity to right and oak leaves to sinister. Cockade of the model specific to the officers in the national colors black-white-red and of the State of Hesse, white ribbon with two red inner circles. Brown leather chinstrap covered with flat scalloped gilt brass scales alternating two and three scallops. Bomb topped with a removable fluted tip, throat pierced with five holes for ventilation of the hairstyle, on a cross-shaped base with lanceolate branch ends riveted by four semi-spherical rivets. Sweatband in fine fawn leather scalloped with wolf teeth in its upper border, inside of the headdress composed of two ecru silk flaps covering the top of the skull. Leather in poor condition, tears and losses. Bomb and fittings in very good condition, inner cap in poor condition. Germany. Second Reich.
