Born October 3, 1870 in Naples, Michele Loffredo was a student of Mancini and Morelli at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. He graduated in 1892, and went to Cairo where he stayed until 1900. He then settled in Paris, where he was advised by Jean-Paul Laurens and Jules Adler at the Académie Julian. from 1904, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes and won some distinctions. eIn 1924 he was made a Knight of the Crown of Italy. He remained attached to his favorite themes, street scenes, portraits of personalities, and favored family scenes of maternity and children's games. Museums: Los Angeles, Musée d'Orsay.
