Probable manufacture in the Czech Republic-Germany zone at the end of the 18th century- beginning of the 19th century
The stock is of a beautiful walnut tree, with elegant sculpted parts, and inlays of bone and ebony in the style of the wheellock guns of the 17th century. The wood has a beautiful patina.
The mechanism is the one of of a flintlock pistol. It works very cleanly, with just one position of locked when armed..
The barrel is faceted at the begeinning, and then cylindrical.
The caliber is about 8mm.
The blade of the axe represents a monster coiled on itself, and on the opposite a pick with 4 divergent points.
This item is unusual, in excellent condition.
Like all combined weapons, of course, it performed poorly both functions and was intended more for a cabinet of curiosities than for the defense of its owner. .
