Beautiful luminous work of the Aix painter Edouard Ducros, friend of Cézanne, which represents the court of a lively farmhouse in Aix en Provence. The artist represented a man packing his harvest and a woman who feeds the hens in the courtyard of the Provencal farmhouse.

After a brilliant career as a lawyer, attorney, then clerk at the Court of Appeal of Aix en Provence, Edouard Ducros decided to give up his post to devote himself to painting.
At the age of 46, he studied with the painters Louis Gautier and Jules Gustave Gagliardini. He will exhibit at the Salon of French artists from 1911 to 1935. He is the founder, in 1894, of the association Les Amis des arts de sa ville, the aim of which is to exhibit the work of painters from the Pays d'Aix in the Cours Mirabeau gallery. His friend Cézanne was one of the first artists to exhibit within this association. In addition, it is alongside his friend Cézanne that the artist sets out to paint the surroundings of Aix.
