JOHANNES VOLLEVENS IS A PORTRAITIST PAINTER BORN IN LA HAGUE IN 1685 IN THE NORTH OF THE NETHERLANDS AND DIE IN 1758 IN THE SAME TOWN HE LEARNED TO PAINT FROM HIS FATHER JOHANNES VOLLEVEN I, ARTIST RENOWNED IN THE GREAT PERIOD OF THE GOLDEN AGE FROM NETHERLANDS PAINTING 17TH CENTURY
IN 1748 HE WAS APPOINTED PAINTER AT THE COURT OF MARIE LOUISE VAN HESSEN KASSEL
HE WAS THE DEAN OF THE GUILD OF PAINTERS OF THE HAGUE
JOHANNES I HIS FATHER AND JOHANNES II BOTH HAVE ONE OF THEIR WORKS AT RIJKS MUSEUM OF AMSTERDAM.
THE PAINTING HAS BEEN RENTOILED AND A LABEL TELLS US THAT THE PRESENT PORTRAIT IS THAT OF THE PRINCESS DOWAGER OF ORANGE
